Orientation
Orientation classes are without puppies and give owners an opportunity to ask questions and learn without the distraction of their puppy. We cover clicker mechanics, potty training, nipping and biting, crate training, how dogs learn, and answer questions.
Requirements before attending class:
1) Owners must attend an orientation without their puppy.
2) Puppy must live in its new home for a minimum of 10 days before bringing him to a class. The owner may attend an orientation during this ten day period.
3) Puppy must have visited the owner’s vet at least once before attending a class.
4) If a copy of the puppy’s current vaccination records was not submitted with the registration form and payment, it must be brought with you to the orientation.
5) The Registration Form and payment are required to be submitted before attending an orientation.
Puppy Development (three class levels for a total of 18 weeks of training)
This puppy class is for puppies between the ages of 7 and 10 weeks. In this class your puppy will learn the foundation skills for basic obedience training, impulse control, how to use their body, and socialization. As owners you will learn potty training tips, how to deal with problem behaviors, and proper pet etiquette. This class is important for your puppy’s development. Even if you have had puppies before it is still important to socialize your new puppy with people, places, and things outside of your household. To learn more about the importance of puppy socialization follow this link to read the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB) Position Statement on Puppy Socialization.
Each puppy class is designed to suit the puppy’s individual needs at his stage of development. Our focus is to help puppy owners become educated about puppy development stages as well as learn how to establish rules and boundaries without jeopardizing their relationship with the puppy. All of our puppy classes are revolving classes; this means that you can register and join the class at any time and your puppy will socialize with a variety of different puppies as you progress through your six week class.
Late Bloomers
At Canine Craze we understand that sometimes life circumstances don’t allow you to either adopt or purchase a puppy that is eight weeks old. We also realize that sometimes you are not able to attend class right away when you bring your puppy home. This is why we have an alternative to help older puppies also become socialized and learn basic obedience. This class is for puppies to join when they are between the ages of 11 and 16 weeks. This class will prepare you and your puppy to take the AKC Star Puppy Test.
